You’re platforming some pretty unhinged takes here. At what point does this stop being dispatches from anon group chats and start being “dispatches from Eriks private thoughts hes not ready to own publicly”?

Canada, the UK, and Australia already did a speed run on "let's import infinite Indians". It was a total disaster and everyone hates it. If you do the same in the USA it will have the same impact.

They had various methods of selection and it didn't work. Whatever the US implemented (which mostly seems to be a copy of the same ideas) will also have loopholes.

The Indian talent pool just isn't that deep. When you increase quantity, quality goes down.

The dirty secret of high skill immigration is that high performance of immigrants looks exactly like it does globally. A bunch of whites, jews, and some East Asians.

It's also hard to talk about meritocracy when you talking about a very corrupt people that have a tendency to hire their own cousins and abuse public services.

We'll see what Trump does. He basically fired Vivek low key (pushed out of DOGE and passed over for Ohio Senate Seat). A fitting end for a guy that hates Americans and wants to turn the entire country into some South Korean style cram school, which definitely won't be good for innovation, fertility, or basic human happiness.

I think that deep down most current Indian immigrants understand this. They know what India is like. They know why they left. Of all the civilizations out there, it's hard to think of one more stratified then India. Even breeds of dogs will mate with one another, Indian castes managed to keep the most separate breeding pools in the world for centuries.

The smart move is to keep quantity down and quality up so as not to dilute and tarnish the brand. If one can take a step back and control ones ego, flooding the zone with co-ethnics is a losing strategy for the current Indian immigrant elite.

Fracturing a political coalition for such a low upside/high downside prospect is pretty dumb. The smart move would be for Trump to talk the talk about welcoming everyone but not try to increase the caps and make the same mistake the Anglosphere made.

Some improvements in quality can be made simply by reforming the system to substitute low quality H1B apps for higher quality ones, which can be done without increasing quantity.
