This post was a real gift. Thank you for sharing it (even if it was another, satisfying excuse to scroll a screen instead of sitting with my emotions and thoughts!)

Did you intend to include a link in the third-to-last paragraph? “If you’d like to come to something like this, apply here.”

I did Hoffman over a decade ago, and it was one of the best things I ever did — mainly because I was ready for it and did it on my own volition. This piece brought back some memories and reminders. A great self-reflection.

love these reflections, Erik – thanks for sharing them :)

"I want to be a shepherd of the light. Not just intellectually, but emotional, physically and spiritually as well. I have a spiritual self. And I’m not going to numb it anymore. I have the emotional capacity. I have the light. I am the light. And I will never dim myself again." ❤️ ❤️

Fascinating and helpful. I've done vipassana and Landmark forum and have been eyeing Hoffman. This post really helps flesh out what I can expect. Thank you!

Wow. That was different. I’ve always loved your posts for pure intellectual rollercoastering, but always wondered how someone could know so much and do so much stuff.

This explains some of that, and I don’t think it was trite, mediocre or fictionalised, but perhaps that proviso is still necessary for you, given the unfamiliar territory 🫢.

Instead I felt (nearly all of) your bad patterns were highly relatable, so thanks for saving me time there, and there were plenty of other insights I’d like to thank you for 👏👏.

These strange yellow symbols are emojis, but the real thing is a lot better. Good luck!

There's a Hoffman place around the corner from my ranch. Have heard good things about it. Cool that you engage in practices, frameworks, exercises that open the fractal frontier of self-knowing. Very important and where all the value creation and fun in life is found.

Great piece. There are so many good quotes, including this one:

They made us wake up early for no good reason.

I love the direct, simple honesty. Also a good articulation:

The phone is simultaneously a triggering device and a numbing device.

I love reading insightful and authentic and personal stories. Thank you for writing and sharing, Eric. There are few pieces that that I will re-read and this is one of them.

Hoffman (first I’ve heard of it) reminds me of Art of accomplishment and Joe Hudson. I took two of their courses and they have an online community for alumni that has weekly online gatherings for exercises. Nothing beats in-person though. I organized a 3-night 4 day in lakeside retreat for entrepreneurs and creators. It was awesome and I will host two more retreats in 2025. This piece even more inspiration to keep going with that.
