Not really the point of your post but just wanted to say that Ruby and Ruby on Rails are alive and well. The list of big companies, small builders, and everything in between using Ruby or Rails is quite large.
I agree with your point that a lot of learning happens via peers. Isn’t this the reason why career education seems to be broken? You don’t have the data about it as it’s an informal activity. With career education do you only mean formal educational activities?
